National Foundation of Certified
Inspectors (NFCI) promotes
Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as a professional and
within the inspection procedures and guidelines of NFCI. All
NFCI members subscribe to the following Code of Ethics within
their membership and certification.
Obligation and commitment...
1.) A NFCI Inspector shall abide
by the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as set forth
by NFCI;
2.) A NFCI Inspector will abide
by all the rules and guidelines as set forth by NFCI now or within
the future;
3.) A NFCI Inspector will hold
the utmost respect for him/herself and the public in the way
they conduct themselves in public;
4.) A NFCI Inspector will not
discredit him/herself; or any member of NFCI; or any other inspector
of any other foundation or association;
5.) A NFCI Inspector will not
engage him/herself in any unlawful activities pursuant to any
laws whatsoever; or damaging to another inspector or the public;
or the inspection industry;
6.) A NFCI Inspector shall be
fair, honest, impartial, and act in good faith in dealing with
the public or anyone else in the inspection industry;
7.) A NFCI Inspector will not
discriminate in any business activities on the basis of race,
color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, sexual
orientation, or handicap and shall comply with all federal, state,
provincial and local laws concerning discrimination.
8.) A NFCI Inspector shall be
truthful regarding his/her qualifications & abilities to
perform their duties as an home inspector;
9.) A NFCI Inspector will have
no conflict of interest within the home or property of which
they will inspect.
10.) A NFCI Inspector will not
disclose to anyone other then the client information about their
inspection report without the consent of the client for whom
the inspection report is for; except where it may affect the
safety of others or violates any laws or statutes; or this Code
of Ethics;
11.) A NFCI Inspector shall
provide a written contract that outlines in complete detail the
obligations that specifies the services to be performed, limitations
of services, and fees to be charged;
12.) A NFCI Inspector shall
comply with all governing rules and licensing requirements of
the jurisdiction whereby he/she conducts business.
13.) A NFCI Inspector will continue
to educate one self on current and future information that effects
the home inspector within the home inspection industry.
14.) A NFCI Inspector shall
pass the NFCI Inspector Exam once every calendar year.
15.) A NFCI Inspector will advertise
the logo and name on any web site of that held or used by a NFCI
member with a link back to www.nfci.ca for the promotion and
benefits of all concerned.
16.) A NFCI Inspector shall
assist and promote any membership within the NFCI by display
the NFCI on any business stationary or information whereby you
are promoting yourself as a certified inspector.
17.) A NFCI Inspector shall
not offer to perform repairs on the property that he/she has
inspected for a period of at least 6-months from the time of
the initial inspection.
